Video Rental Clerk

As a Video Rental Clerk, you work in video rental — processing rentals and returns, managing customer accounts, and helping customers find titles. This role has largely disappeared with streaming and the decline of physical media rental, but exists in remaining rental operations and specialty contexts.

Your day involves rental transactions and customer service. You check out titles, process returns, handle account questions, make recommendations, and manage the rental collection. You need to know the inventory and understand customer preferences to make good recommendations.

The hardest part is the declining nature of the industry. Video rental has been largely replaced by streaming, and few rental operations remain. Those still working in this area typically work in specialty operations serving collectors or niche markets. The role requires passion for film and physical media.
