Senior Financial Health Counselor

Most weeks involve client and program-level work. You'll often handle complex coaching cases that combine financial issues with life or health challenges, develop wellness curricula or content, mentor newer counselors, and partner with employer HR or healthcare teams on program design. The role tends to draw from coaching frameworks, behavioral economics, and financial counseling traditions.

What's harder than people expect is the cross-domain complexity — financial health intersects with mental health, physical health, relationship dynamics, and life transitions, and learning to navigate without overstepping into clinical territory takes practice. Variance is significant between bank-based financial wellness programs (often retention-oriented, fee-based), employer wellness programs (benefits-driven, often preventive), and healthcare-affiliated programs (often serving patients in financial distress). AFC, CFT, or coaching credentials shape practice.

People who tend to thrive here are whole-person oriented, comfortable with vulnerable conversations, and patient with slow-motion behavior change. If you want high-comp investment work, this isn't the path.
