Senior Patient Financial Counselor

Most weeks involve complex patient cases, supervision, and program-level work. You'll often handle financial assistance applications for unusual situations (catastrophic illness, no insurance, complex eligibility), manage payment plan negotiations on six-figure balances, mentor newer counselors on case approach, and contribute to charity care committee or hospital financial assistance policy. The work blends senior counseling skill with policy-level contributions.

What's harder than people expect is the emotional sustainability across many years — at this level, you've sat with thousands of patients through their worst financial moments, and protecting your own wellbeing while remaining genuinely present takes intentionality.
